Burlap Owl Door hanger

I love owl’s especially this time of year when summer is turning to fall but it isn’t time to bring out the fall stuff quite yet. What a fun way to decorate but with an owl! They add so much character to a home! The inspiration for this craft came from Pinterest. But when I clicked on the link to the picture on Pinterest it let no where! So after a little research I found them on Etsy where Nursejeaneeg brings to life these cute owls!
I wanted mine BIG and so my girlfriend came up with a template and made it “BIG” Now one owl was not enough so I decided I would get a little crazy and make 6 more for my high school girlfriends that are coming in October to visit. I sure hope they like them!

First cut out your burlap (2 sheets) in the shape of your owl template.

Then Make a smaller template of the same owl shape for the front fabric part. Then lay your fabric on top of your burlap owl and stitch around the fabric part. Leave an opening in the bottom to stuff the owl with cotton stuffing. Once stuffed you can sew the bottom opening shut and embellish.

I’m still working on finishing all the other owls I have assembled (they need stuffed and embellished) but here is what they look like when done!
You can choose any color of fabric you wish. Or even make one in pink or blue for your child’s nursery! I LOVE MINE!

The most awesome thing about these is…… you don’t have to cut perfectly because some of the curved edges give the owls more character. The edges can twist up or flip out and give it more dimension!
