Burlap Turkey Door Hanger

I absolutely loved the Burlap Owl that I did a few weeks ago that it inspired me to want to do another burlap project. This next one (A Turkey) was a beast. Now, let me tell you there is no pattern we used for this- just a lot of free handing and guessing. Both myself and my girlfriend learned a few valuable lessons on this Turkey. (one being don’t go with cheap loose weave burlap!)

We do not feel we are amateur’s when it comes to crafting and normally we can look at a project and BAM!! Create it. We knew we could create this one but we had no idea the time it would take or the pain it would cause. Perhaps it is because we worked on it until the wee hours of the night and we were both delirious!!

Once each Turkey was “stuffed” and completed it was fun to embellish it – we dug through containers of buttons to find the right eyes and dug deep for old belt buckles! Once again we did NOT go out and purchase anything – we used items from what each of us had on hand. Call us crazy but sometimes it pays off to purchase random items at garage sales because you never know when you might use it!

Our inspiration was found On Cutipiethis on Etsy. And after completing this project I can see why she charges what she does. I also didn’t put nearly as much sewing detail into mine either! Overall I love it but not sure I would do it again!

Hey, I ran across this on Pinterest. I wanted to say thank you for giving me props on your site.
It is nice to see people being creative themselves. It’s hard when people on etsy copy me and sell the same thing. ;/ I love what I do and I’m blessed though. Great job- have fun crafting!
Thank you again for putting my name out there on your blog. Appreciate you!
