There are so many creative ideas I see all over the web! I also love combining ideas to make it my own. For this patriotic fringe flag, I found this idea at optimistic mommy and this idea on close to your heart etsy shop and made it into one. I loved both of them but thought they would work great together! Follow these instructions to make your own patriotic fringe flag.
First gather any patriotic fabrics and ribbon you have then a pieced of wood, it really can be any size you want. I used leftover wood flooring pieces they were all different sizes and shapes, yes to did paint 10 different boards. I am making them to give away to some of my crafty friends to help celebrate the 4th of July! I always try and use what I already have on hand if I can. I mixed a blue color with some black paint to make it more of a navy, next I painted my boards and let them dry.
While the painted boards were drying I cut several 1 inch strips of fabric and burlap. I used leftover scraps I had lying around. When my painted boards were completely dry, I gave them a quick sand.
Next I laid 15 strips of fabric, burlap, ribbon, lace and jute rope in a line to match the size of the board (If you board is smaller you can use less strips of fabric). I place a line of hot glue on the backside of the painted board and then set the glue line on top of the laid out fabric and ribbons. I pressed it down onto the ribbons until it was dry and they were attach. Then I cut the fabric and ribbons all the same size about 15 inches to hang down.
For the star I hand cut a template out of paper and traced it on to the board, then hand painted the star in white. After the star was dry, I gave the board another sanding to make it look rustic. I attached a jute rope to the top of the board with hot glue.
