With Easter right around the corner, I wanted to create fun new items to add to my Easter home decor. I have seen several ideas for fabric stuffed carrots and decided that they would be a quick and easy sewing project. I also like that they could be used many ways to decorate with: In baskets, by frames, or strung to create a bunting. I figured they would be easy enough to create my own pattern.
To create your own Quick and Easy Sewn Easter Bunny Carrots you will need:
mesh rope or twine
You will want to start the project by selecting your fabric, I looked through my fabric scraps and found a larger orange polka dot fabric piece. Cut a 7″ tall by 5″ wide triangular template out of paper. Pin the triangle template on to your fabric and cut the desired amount of triangles out of your fabric (I cut 5).
With right sides together place both sides of your triangle together and sew together the sides leaving the top open, then turn inside out. Fill your carrot base with polyfill. Turn on your glue gun and cut 4″ lengths of mesh rope. You will need 2-3 pieces of mesh rope per carrot. fold over the fabric at the top of the carrot adding small dots of hot glue at the top, to hold the top of the carrot closed. Take 2-3 pieces of mesh rope fold them in half and add hot glue to the ends. Press the ends into the top of the carrot and hold until set in place. Continue with steps until all carrots are complete.
At first, I was going to string my carrots on some twine and hang them as a banner.
I found these cute little chicken wire baskets and liked how they fit inside the basket.
I love that you could use them in many ways to decorate. check out a few of our other Decorating ideas simple striped gold glitter wooden Easter egg and Glittered bunny ears. How do you decorate for Easter?
