Over the course of my life I have had many moments where I have had to be tight with my money.  I went through a period of time where I became a single mother of two kids and my budget was very very tight. There were some points that I had no money to buy groceries and other times when I had enough money to splurge a little.  During that difficult time I learned the value of money and learned how to garage sale, thrift shop, refurbish old items, and of course clip coupons.  I was in shock at how many coupons were out there and what was even more shocking is that I spent so many years paying full price for items.  After getting re married that urge to be thrifty I never left me.  Over time it developed into almost a challenge to see what I could create with little to no money. It has been a fun journey and I get even more inspired when I tell people that I got items for free or discounted prices by using coupons. I scour the weekly newspaper and ads throughout the week to see what is on sale. Also, if I know there is an item that I need or want to purchase before I buy it I will get online and do a google search by using the title name of the product with the word “coupon” at the end of the product I am looking to buy. The internet will then pull up any coupons or dicount codes it can find within the search. I print them out and take them with me!
I love to price match and love a good garage sale. There have been many times that I have come home with an entire trunk full of groceries for under a hundred dollars. I will come home and proudly display my receipt to my husband because I feel so accomplished.  Because of coupons I have cut my grocery budget from $1,000 a month down to $500.00 a month for a family of six. Pretty impressive if you ask me.  I have had friends of mine ask me where I got a blouse from because the “love it” and I tell them I only paid .25 cents for it at a garage sale.
