Add some color to your front porch

I like to switch out the decor on my front porch every month and since it really feels like summer in the hot month of August what more fun is it to bring in a splash of bright color?  I have seen quite a few homes with big daisy flowers hanging on their front doors and I knew it would be simple to accomplish!

I took an oblong bowl and just traced the outer edges around in a circle until each edge met. when I trace I always do it on the back side of my project.   I cut the flower on bead board that has the wide spacing of grooves.  (approx 12″ apart) It was a left over piece from my parents.  I then took another piece of bead board and cut a circle for the center.  I used GLOSS decoart paint (toll paint)  I LOVE LOVE that they make glossy now!  Once dry I put the circle in the middle of the flower drilled two holes for wire. Strung the wire and hung it!  For the garland I did the same concept only using 1/4 ” pine for the flowers.  Painted them a variety of different colors then drilled a hole at the top of each one.  I then took wire and twisted each one with a loop so I could thread mesh through it.   I am in LOVE with this mesh! It has a touch of wire in it so you can get it to twist however you would like it to.  I used it in my Christmas tree last year and fell in love!  Anyways, Once I threaded the mesh through each flower I strung it above my front door and I suddenly had Flower Power!!

There is nothing like a welcoming front porch.  I hate walking onto a front porch that is full of dead bugs, spider webs and sticky finger prints all over the door.  The front door should be a welcoming place for people and is the beginning point of making guests feel welcomed into your home.

Do you remember this Kite?  I made a few month’s ago?  Well I just wrapped my post in the same mesh as my garland and hung the kite from the post!  Looks like summer is here!
