Beach Stars
I have been doing a lot of spring cleaning around here. I love to have a lot of décor at my house, but sometimes it just gets overwhelming! I garage sale almost every weekend and those treasures add up and tend to take up quite a bit of space. While Spring cleaning I found several of these stars. Some I had purchased at garage sales thinking at some point I would put them up and didn’t. While others were already on display in my home. I loved the star trend but I am tired of it and I feel like that style has one foot out the door. Then I had a little inspiration, and saw them in a new different light. Seeing all the beachy décor in the stores I envisioned these in a soft beach like color and starfish also came to my mind. I invited Avry over and we got to work painting them this soft blue green color. For most of the stars we hot glued jute around the edges. Then we marked out the center of our star and drew a smaller star in the center of the large metal stars. Next we applied Mod Podge and sprinkled decorative sand over the wet Mod Podge before it had a chance to dry. For some of the stars we simply sprinkled the decorative sand over the entire star while the paint was still wet.
These turned out better than I was expecting. Now we have some fun new beach stars to put out with the seahorse boards! Do you have stars that you are ready to get rid of? You should give this a try. It was a quick way to update and bring them back on trend! Just wait to see what other fun beach decor’ we will be sharing!
