The Best Feeling Wall Artwork
My Master bed room needs a re vamp. I love my venetian walls so I will leave those alone but my bed set needs a make over. I am starting small in this room and will work my way bigger. But for starters I wanted something bold hanging above my bed.
I saw the saying “The best feeling is when you look at him and he is already staring” and I loved it! I have to admit there have been a few times in my marriage that I will catch my husband looking at me, we make eye contact and then I can’t help but smile. It feels good to know he will look at me in admiration sometimes. When I made this next project I was somewhat worried he would think it was to “girly” to hang above our bed but I love that he accepts me and my crazy ideas.
This wall artwork was made from left over slats of hardwood flooring. Each piece was 5″ wide and 30″ long. Since the hardwood was tongue and groove the pieces slid together easily. There are 6 slats all together making this wall art 30″ X 30″ in size. Two long pieces of wood were aligned and screwed into the back of all six slats to make sure they stay together once hanging.
The template was made on the Silhouette in individual sections each section was cut using 12×12 pieces of scrapbook paper and just taped together. I picked the font to be somewhat blocky to have it look more uniform. Once the template was all put together I taped it down to the wood.
I then took white paint and painted in the center of the template. There was quite a bit of bleed through but luckily the surface of the wood allowed me to scrape along the letters to remove excess paint.
I know the wood on my bed is dated but hopefully I can convince hubby to help me stain it darker to match the wall hanging. Overall I love how it turned out and it gives just a little bit of life to my bedroom!
