Candy Cane Heart shaped suckers for Valentines
Valentines Candy Cane Heart Shaped Suckers
What do you do with left over candy canes from Christmas?? Use them for the next holiday! I actually didn’t have these left over at home but they were left over at K-mart for .60 cents a box!
First you unwrap each candy cane and place it on a GREASED cookie sheet right next to another candy cane so the two of them form a heart shape. Put a sucker stick up between the ends of the two candy canes. Cook them in the oven for 3 minutes on 250 degrees. (watch them closely) They will melt just enough to pinch them together when you pull them out of the oven. Once you have pinched the two candy canes together and let them cool off then move the candy canes to a piece of wax paper.
After they have cooled melt some almond bark and spoon it into the center of each heart. while the Almond bark is still hot I took some sprinkles and sprinkled the tops with red and white sprinkles to add a little touch. Then let the almond bark set up while still on the wax paper. (I let it set for several hours)
Once all set up I took them and wrapped them on cellophane and added some tulle ribbon at the base of the sucker. My girls are going to give these to their teachers at school and some of their friends.
I used all supplies I had at home and only purchased the candy canes. (which was $2.40 for all 4 boxes) The sucker sticks were some my mother had leftover from years ago, almond bark was leftover from christmas.
This project took me approximately 2.5 hours from start to finish. You could even do this with mini candy canes for a smaller version.
