Happy handmade card using scrap paper
I don’t know about you but I have tons of scrap scrapbook paper and cardstock cluttering up my craft room. I often only use part of a sheet depending on the project and I hate to just throwing away the perfectly good unused portion so, into the scrap bin it goes! Well my scrap bin is overflowing with scrapbook paper and cardstock. So, for this months card group I knew I wanted to come up with a way to use some of these leftover scrap papers. I know every time I blog about card making I always say how it brings me back to my roots. Once again I’m going to say it! Cards bring me back to my roots! Card making was where crafting began for me and I often forget how much I love handmade cards. I am so glad that I am part of a card exchange group that meets every other month. It gives me the chance to slow down and create some really fun cards. A few months ago we were focusing on cards for boys and men. It is so easy to come up with a girly card. I always struggle…

Spring Time Umbrella Card
You know the saying April Showers bring May flowers. Well we have been having plenty of rain in our neck of the woods. As I was deciding on a card to make for our upcoming spring themed card group. Of course rain and umbrella’s came to my mind. I decided it would be fun to create a card mimicking the weather we were having. I used my personal cutting machine to cut the umbrella shape and the bracket tag shape. I used a pastel polka dot paper and a pink and mint green card stock. This card was quite simple to make. I think my favorite part of the card…

Handmade “Merry” Cards
You know how Avry and I roll, we love to give handmade gifts and cards that have a personal touch. This year for our card group I chose to make this simple Merry card. Sometimes simple is the right answer. I love the balance of this card and how it all comes together. To make this card I started with white cardstock, I cut the card stock in half at 4 1/4 inches, then folded it in half to give me a card base that is 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. Next I selected 4 Christmas patterned papers. I cut 3/4″ X 4″ strips and clipped a V out of each…

Clock Thank You Card
The theme for card group this time was thank you cards. I saw a few ideas that involved clocks. I thought the clock idea was different and maybe even unique. As I read the little saying that went along with this clock idea, it made me ponder about being thankful for others. Often times when others are helping us, we don’t think about the time they are taking out of their own schedule and the sacrifices they are making to be there in our time of need. I decided to go with this heart felt idea and saying for my card this month.

Hot air balloon handmade card
Simple, fast and easy! That is what I love about the Cricut make and take area of their design space. This was one of the easiest cards I ever made and only because it was pretty much already done for me! I just had to click cut and go!! Their subscription projects make it so easy to complete a handmade card in a short amount of time. Since I make 10-12 cards for card group I am always looking for something that won’t take an entire day to make. I used some bright and colorful paper to pull this together and love the added glitter gold paper. Want to make…

Flamingo Card
I was having a little trouble coming up with an idea for our upcoming card swap this month. I needed to make 10 girlish birthday cards. Later that day I had walked over to Avry’s house to find she had bought herself a new Cricut Explore Air machine. She had been playing on it for a few hours and had figured out how it use it pretty well. I own the original Cricut machine and haven’t used it in a while, to be honest I had a difficult time with the cartridges and just felt they weren’t very user friendly. I have another cutting machine that I purchased 2 years ago…

Today I am sharing with you a baby boy card using snails. This was a fun really simple card to make, I used a green background for both versions of the card. I cut 2 different pattern papers for the main background, I used a strip of Kraft cardstock to stamp the Baby Boy sentiment onto and then used staples to attach the Kraft cardstock strips to the base of the card. I used my scallop punch to create the…
