DIY – Refurbished Vintage metal patio chairs
My parents had this darling vintage patio table with patio chairs. The is a glass table with white iron chairs with yellow vinyl cushions on them. They had purchased this patio set at a yard sale several years ago. After many sunny summers and long hard winters the yellow vinyl finally deteriorated. My dad had put all of the chairs in his truck to take them to the landfill. While looking them over I see that the metal frame on the chairs is in great shape and can easily be painted. Knowing I could figure out something for the seat I asked my dad to bring the chairs to my…

Summertime Grow flower sign using dishes
One of my favorite ways to decorate and present my home is by adding fun signs to my porch and patio. With summer gardening upon us, I found this idea for a Summertime grow dish board. I love the combination of the plate flower used as the letter “o” in the word grow. Over at Wendy’s make n take you can pay for a kit or class to make this sign. I love the idea but the size of sign she was offering is rather large. I decided to create my own and make a smaller version. To create your own Summer Time grow dish board you will need: 2…

DIY Refurbish a used outdoor Iron Bistro table and chairs
My mother contacted me one day and told me that a friend of her’s was getting rid of a wrought iron Bistro Table. She stated that it needed some work and some TLC to get it looking good again. Of course I couldn’t turn down a free table and chairs so she brought it to me. The top of the bistro table and top of the chairs were made from a press board type of wood. The bistro table had been severely sun damaged. I knew I had to replace the top. So, I contemplated what type of wood I could use to cut out for the top. In the…

DIY Fresh Cut Flowers Rustic Outdoor Garden Sign
If one thing is certain we love making signs and we love using scrap wood to do it. The cheaper we can create a project the better it is on our crafting budget. This Fresh Cut Flowers rustic garden sign is no exception to using the wood floor planks that we do. Who can pass up free wood? Here is a quick and easy tutorial for this garden sign. First take 3 wood floor slats and cut them 22″ in length. Then glue the tongue and grooves together of each slat using wood glue. The wood flooring pieces are exactly 5″ in width. By putting all 3 strips together the…

Life’s Lesson’s Garden Stake
My yard and garden are in full bloom! I love walking out in the soft green grass and looking at all the colors! As I’ve mentioned in previous posts I love to garden and I’m going to show you a cute idea for a Garden Stake. There is something therapeutic about getting down into the dirt and digging out the weeds. My favorite time to be out in my yard is in the early morning when it is still cool. Everything is still damp from the sprinklers the night before, the air is perfect and it is so quiet because everything is just waking up for the day. Every…

Halloween Directions yard sign
I have been seeing all of these Halloween subway art signs, some of them had Halloween type places listed on them. After looking at some of these fun Halloween signs, I got thinking that it would be fun to create some kind of street post with arrows and directions. Step 1: I dug though my wood collection and found these pallet boards that I had already cut for a project that I decided not to make. The boards are 4″ tall by 15″ long Step 2: Paint you boards black or color of your choice Step 3: I used my personal cutting machine to design the wording and arrows on…

Porch swing refurbish
After a few years of outdoor furniture cushions being outdoors they start looking really bad. With the sun beating down on them along with the rain, wind, dirt and constant use they look pretty beat up! I have a metal porch swing that is maybe only 3 years old and for the most part is overall in pretty good condition. The Metal still looks new but the cushion fabric was severely sun faded, dirty and worn so thin that it was shredded in a few places. Here is a picture of my swing from last summer. Now it may not look too bad but I have to say in this…
