My country tis of thee
My Country tis’ of thee In Utah the 4th of July isn’t the only patriotic holiday we celebrate in July we also celebrate Pioneer day on July 24th. It is just as big as the 4th so we keep all the patriotic décor up all month. My outdoor hanger is displaying a cute banner type project that my girlfriend and I created. We were inspired by this photo I wish I knew who did it so I could give them credit! I love being able to display my love for my country in this way!

DIY Square Outdoor Flower Planters
Love gardening and love my yard! I’ve wanted some big Flower Planters or flower pots for quite a while but could never justify the cost of them. Nor could I find any that I was completely in love with until I stumbled across these Criss Cross Outdoor Planters online. I am in love with the look and design. Within minutes I had the instructions printed and given to my husband! For the most part Justin followed the instructions to a tee except he added a trim piece a long the top of my planters to give the top a bit more finished look! Thank you to Centsational girl for sharing her instructions!…

Cedar flower / planter box
Cedar Planter Box for the deck I found this awesome standing planter box plan on Ana White and fell in love! I immediately wanted one for my deck. So, I convinced my husband to make it for me. He altered a few things on it. Our’s is longer and taller. I also had him add cedar along the bottom of the inside and then line it with plastic to protect the cedar. He also put 3 to 4 coats of sealer on the planter box to seal it from weather and from discoloring. I am thinking to preserve the wood we may have to do this the beginning of each season. I…

Spring is in the Air outdoor sign
Spring is in the air outdoor sign Yay! Everything is blooming and the dreary brown trees, grass and bushes are turning green! Tulips and daffodils are in full bloom and spring is definitely in the air! So, do you remember this lovely St. Patrick’s sign? NO??? Probably because I never posted about it last month! Either way my hubby took some wood and cut them into 24×24″ square’s. After St. Patrick’s day was over my life was CHAOS!!! (when isn’t it?) So my best friend snuck over and stole my St. Patrick’s board off my post! She then turned it over and into this beauty! Check out her Spring is…

Outdoor Handmade Wood Porch Swing
Handmade Wood Porch Swing Well let’s just say my husband is at it again! I find it – he builds it! I found this wood swing tutorial on Anna White’s website. (and let me tell you there are a TON of cute projects on there) I am trying really really hard to get my husband to build me an entertainment center. If he asks what I want for Christmas (which I’m hoping he does) I will tell him I want an entertainment center! Ok enough of that. On to my YARD LOVE. Here are photos of my Outdoor Handmade Wood Porch Swing we whipped up! I love to entertain and am…

Cedar Sign Post for each holiday
Pumpkins Apples and Hayrides My husband got this idea that if he built one post to put in the ground that I could rotate signs out for every holiday. So, he bought some cedar 4×4 (yes their actual size is 4X4) Some tend to be smaller but these posts are true to the 4×4 size. He notched out the wood by using a saw and chisel. He made the post approximately 8′ tall but when put 2′ into the ground it stands around 6′ tall. The notch in the post let the other post lay sideways into it. So, the opening of the notch out is 4″ so they fit…

My mother’s garden and where my love for gardening came from
My love for Gardening This post is very dear to me because it is a piece of what I grew up with. My mother was always out in the yard growing up – planting, mowing, weeding, picking fruit, vegetables, weeding some more. She loved it so much that yard work became a part of our everyday chores and I hated it. That is until I got older. I never understood why she made us do it but today I am so grateful because her love has been passed on to something that I love. I love to garden, I love to weed, I love to plant and I am sad…

Patio set refurbish
Refurbished patio set Spray paint has become one of my best friends! When Hubby and I got married he had a glass table patio set. It was okay and we used it for quite a few years. But then when we built our house (almost 3 years ago) We purchased a new patio set to go up on our deck. I have absolutely loved my new patio set and I went with all iron instead of glass.. I don’t care for glass dining sets because they show all the dirt and feel gritty all the time. So my upper deck I have done in lime greens and blues/turquoise colors. Our house has a walk out basement…

DIY Outdoor Painted Deck Wood Bench
DIY Outdoor Handmade Wood bench Look what my husband whipped up for me! I get the vision.. he gets included. He made the bench from start to finish including painting it. Here it is before it was painted. He was so good to fill in all the nail holes with putty and sand this baby down so it had a smooth finish. I am mad at myself for not taking pictures along the way while he was working on it. I look at the project while he is working on it then keep on with my own business. I was just happy he jumped in and did it! Here is…

How to refurbish an Outdoor Fountain
My mother had a beautiful outdoor fountain that the base slowly deteriorated over time. It was made of resin and broke down so it could no longer be used. The pump of the fountain was still good as was the bowl of the fountain. Not sure what to do with it the fountain sat in her flower bed looking like this for years. She was given this green pot and it too needed something done with it but it didn’t match any of her other pots. She took the green pot and drilled a hole in the back of the pot for the fountain cord she then found some old spray paint…
