Christmas in July – Holiday place settings #1

Holiday Place settings group 1

I love the holidays and yes in July I start wishing for the holiday season. I could keep my house decorated year round for Christmas if no one else would mind. I do crank up the holiday tunes in July just because I can. This year I vowed to be more prepared for the holidays! I had an opportunity this past weekend to teach a class on holiday table settings at a Christmas in July event. Between my mother and I we came up with some pretty fantastic cheap ideas. Hosting holiday parties is such a treat and even better if you dress it up a little.

First place setting: Red and White Candy Cane
We took an actual hand towel and folded it in half for a placemat. The white plate is just an everyday plate then adorned the napkin with a plastic candy cane although you can do this with a real candy cane for your guests to take home.

Second place setting: You’ll have a blue Christmas
This set is my Aunt Cheryl’s we added a white placemat that was found at the dollar store along with a silver platter for the charger also at the dollar store. We took two silver ornaments and tied them around the napkin. Inside the bowl is a small notecard to let our guests know we appreciate them.

Third place setting: Green Country Christmas
For the placemat we used a piece of scrapbook paper. The two plates used in this setting are not even holiday plates they are both just everyday plates put together to look like they are a holiday set. A simple cream colored napkin and a simple tagged box with a small treat for your company finish the look. Very easy!

Fourth place setting: May your days be merry and bright!
This set is for all those who are into the lime green colors during the holidays. I used a summer lime green placemat (found at walmart) Then used an every day white plate and red bowl. The stocking was found at the dollar store last winter – for an added touch put your napkin and silverware into the stocking. You know all those christmas cards that you don’t know what to do with at the end of the holiday season? Well don’t throw them away! instead cut the front’s off and use them as place cards with your guests name on them. Or attach them to your gifts for under the tree!

I have many more place settings to share with you throughout the rest of the week! Make sure you check back for more great ideas and tips to get a jump start on the holiday season!
