Christmas Nativity Blocks in July.. er August
Yes, I am still at it! Working on Christmas gifts in July! I just realized that I will be gone all but one week in August, then it will be labor day, the kids will be back to school and with working full time I have so much to try to keep on top of! So might as well work on Christmas things while I have the ambition!
I meant to share these nativity blocks with you in July but the month slipped away from me and I cut out 53 sets of these blocks – Yes! you heard that right 53 sets. Only 4 were mine!!! The ladies in our neighborhood went to town and ordered a bunch from me to do for Christmas gifts also. Anyways, I usually make all sorts of crafts for friends and family every year for Christmas but after the lack of enthusiasm last year from some of my gift recipients I am scaling back big time on the craft giving.. so I only completely finished 4 sets.
I found the original idea on etsy and the person who made them did the 3 block set on glass shower blocks. They were very cute but I knew they would be more expensive to go the glass route so I came up with my own design on wood! My friend Becky did a great job on cutting all 53 sets worth of vinyl and if you ever need any vinyl cut and you live in the area let me know and I can give you her name and number!
I used 6×8 pine blocks for the smaller two and 8×8 pine for the large one in the middle. I painted them with a tan semi-gloss paint and then just put the vinyl on top! Very simple for a Christmas gift.
