Growing up in Idaho and now living in Utah I have seen first hand what a cold snowy winter feels like especially without a coat. There have been mornings in the winter months that I have been driving on my way to work and have seen children and teenagers standing at Bus stops or walking to school without a nice warm coat on. Every year myself, my friends and my family try to find ways to give back to the community or partner up with a good cause to help those less fortunate than us. This year after the first few cold mornings and seeing kids without coats it made me want to get involved in making sure everyone has a coat.
While at Walmart one day I learned how Coca-Cola is supporting the non-profit organization One Warm Coat® this non-profit organization provides coats to anyone who may need a coat for free of charge. Now how is Coca-Cola getting involved? Well, they are making it their mission this year to drive holiday shoppers to Walmart stores to buy Coca-Cola for their gatherings during the holidays and in turn Coca-Cola is actually donating to One Warm Coat regardless of how much product it sells (even better!) Coca-Cola is not only donating but they are also challenging and encouraging their shoppers to also share with everyone how they are helping the needy during this holiday with the #LayerOnLove campaign.
This campaign inspired us to get creative and show Coca-Cola how we are helping the needy this year by hosting our own coat drive.
We set up a coat drive and offered friends, neighbors, and family the opportunity to donate coats in exchange for a Coca-Cola.
At the end of our Coca-Cola for a coat drive we were able to collect and donate 52 coats!! Isn’t that awesome? By coming together to donate to One Warm Coat® on Coke.com/LayerOnLove, we could collectively help to put a coat on one million people in need this winter. How will you help?
