Which way do I go to find Santa??

This inspiration came from the wood connection. All the smaller pieces on my sign I did purchased at the store already precut. But, the arrows and Vinyl were cut out by myself.  I am addicted to the wood connection and find myself constantly going there! You can purchase items already finished or you can purchase kits unfinished.

This project isn’t for a beginner (unless you buy the whole kit already pre assembled) even then it is time consuming. I purchased the wood at Lowe’s and cut out 3 sets. One for myself and one for each of my girl friends. I love this in my front entry- It would also look cute out on your front porch!

The arrows were cut from pine and at approximately 6″ wide by 22″ long and 1″ thick. The one on display at the store used a garden stake but I wanted it for my front porch or indoors so I had hubby build a base for it instead.  Also my post that the arrows are nailed on to is a bit thicker than what they had at the store. I made mine out of a 2×2 and cut it to stand about 4 1/2 feet tall.  The overall sign hits me at about my shoulder.

Each arrow was painted by hand with toll paints. I just chose what colors I liked the best and went with it. While the arrows were drying each small piece was painted, glittered and or hot glued together. One the arrows dried we applied the vinyl. My friend did the handy work with the vinyl while I covered the wood cutting. She did pretty good on picking out the fonts don’t you think?

Justin spray painted my bases for me (love this man) and screwed each arrow onto the stand. In the past we have just nailed projects together but have learned that they don’t hold out for the long haul so I don’t mind him putting some screws into my projects to hold them together longer.

Some of the smaller pieces required some of my sweet handy work!  We embellished the arrows with ribbon, twine, snowflakes and whatever we thought would look good.

I absolutely love the touch of blue in this project!  Little kids love to also read this sign when they come to my home.. It makes me smile!

Did you have any trouble getting the vinyl to stick to the painted wood??? Hoping to make my own soon and I wanted to make sure I didn’t need to do anything special to make sure the vinyl stays on…
