DIY Faux Candy Apples

With things cooling down earlier than normal this year, I am ready for fall and the season change. Usually we don’t see cooler temperatures until the end of October but, this year we got a nice cool down over the labor day weekend. I’m ready to pull out all my fall decorations and get busy decorating my tiered trays. As you know I’m always looking for new smaller items to add to trays. I have seen many of these faux candy apples and decided to give making them a try.

To create your own DIY Faux Candy Apples you will need:

Faux apples (as many as desired)

Modge Podge

Tan/Caramel color paint

small pack of dowels or sticks

ribbons

paint brush

Start by mixing equal parts Modge Podge with paint.

Paint a line around the top of your apple leaving some of the top showing, then fill in the sides and bottom with more paint. Continue to add more paint onto the apple until thick and layered (about 3-4 coats/layers) Allow to completely dry (possibly overnight).

After your faux caramel apples are dry. Pull out fake stem and push wooden dowel into the center of the apple.

Cut and tie desired ribbons on the dowel of your faux caramel apple.

Display in trays or any fall styled vignette.
