DIY simple Striped Gold Glitter Wooden Easter Egg

Something about spring time gives me a renewed energy. I’m not sure if it’s the fresh rain kissed air, sunshine, or the abundance of blossoms. I’ve gotten to work and the creativity is flowing, I m excited to get some fun spring crafts done. This past weekend I was on a roll and was able to finish up several projects that were half done. After I had finished all of these projects I wasn’t ready to quit. I found a scrap of wood and cut out an egg shape and then this DIY simple Striped Gold Glitter Wooden Easter Egg came to life.

To create your own DIY simple Striped Gold Glitter Wooden Easter Egg you will need:

Egg template (7 inches wide by 9 inches tall)

1/2 thick piece of wood

Paint (your choice of color)

Glitter

painters tape

jig saw

First you’ll want to create an egg shaped template and trace the egg shape on to a piece of 1/2 inch thick wood.

Next you will want to use either a jig saw or a scroll saw to cut out the egg shape.

At this point you can have fun by picking out the color of paint you want to use! (I painted my wooden egg a mint green). Once you have painted it you will want to allow it to completely dry.

Furthermore you’ll want to use a 1 & 3/4″ thick painters tape and tape off 3 sections of the egg to create stripes.

As you can see in the next picture I painted the sections that were showing with a gold paint and then sprinkled gold glitter over the wet paint. (You can never have too much glitter)!

Finally you’ll want to peel off the painters tape while still wet. This helps with bleed through not staying on the board (Tip: you can use a baby wipe to wipe away any wet bleed through) Allow the egg to completely dry before displaying.
