This year we’ve really gotten into the football spirit and I found myself entering into the Football brackets contest at work! While my family watches the game we like to incorporate some fun games to play. We are going to show you today one of our favorite family games to play while watching football.

 Don't eat the football game

The name of our game is “Don’t Eat the Football”  For this game you’ll want to first head to your local Associated foods store to pick up a few supplies for the game. My favorite Associated Foods store in our area is Winegar’s as they carry all the essentials to create our fun family game.  You’ll want to purchase a bag of Skittles® in any size and flavor. We prefer to buy the biggest bag we can find so the game can go on longer and everyone has a chance to enjoy Skittles® Choosing the flavor is hard though because there are so many different flavors of . We found the Skittles right away in the Snack / Candy Isle of the store.

I made each of my guests a football Skittles collection cup, to make your own cups click on my 3oz cup wrap template below and print it onto brown cardstock. (There are 4 cup wraps on a page).

After you have printed the cup wraps cut each wrap out, then tape one end of the wrap to a 3oz. cup and wrap it around the cup and tape remaining end to the cup.

Take the 1/4″ white cardstock strips and you will need to cut 1 at 1 1/2″ and 3 at 1″ for each cup you make.  Glue the 1 1/2″ strip down the middle of the cup and then glue the 3 smaller 1″ strips across the 1 1/2″ strip to create your football Skittles collecting cup.

The object of this game is to put off finding the football as long as possible so each player gets to eat more Skittles!!

How to play:
1.  Gather your players together and your Game card

2. Have your players put one Skittle in each square on the Game card.

3. Send one player out of the room.

4. With the remaining players in the room pick a Skittle on the football grid to be “The football.”

5. Call the person back in the room but don’t tell him/her which Skittle has been designated “The football”.

6. The player that just came back into the room gets to pick up Skittles off of the scorecard (one piece at a time). If the candy is not the designated football the player gets to eat or collect the Skittles.

If the Skittle that the player picks up is “The Football” then all the other players yell “Don’t eat the football!” and that person’s turn is over and the next person goes out of the room.
