Farmhouse Wood Night Stands

As you saw in yesterday’s post I introduced you to my new Farmhouse bed! When the bed was done my old nightstands didn’t match nor were they nearly tall enough! So I went to work on finding some nightstand plans to match my new bed. I found these darling nightstands on Shanty 2 Chic. Have I told you that I LOVE LOVE Her site?  I have used multiple plans from her and loved how every single one has come out. Once again I got my husband to work on these beauties!

We made them taller and wider than her plan with just a little deeper drawers. I used the same stain color as my bed in Minwax dark walnut and put a semi-gloss polyurethane over the top to seal it.

I wanted the pulls on the drawers to match all the one’s in my bathroom and throughout my house so my husband went to the local cabinet shop that did our cabinets to ask if there were some he could buy. They said they didn’t use the same pulls anymore but had 8 left over that we could have for free! This is awesome considering they were originally $4.00 a piece! My house is not quite 5 years old.. but apparently old enough to not carry my same drawer pulls anymore.

We spent around $40 in lumber for both nightstands and since we had stain left over from the bed we didn’t have to buy more stain.  Also the drawer pulls were free so the nightstands ended up being $20 per nightstand! You can’t beat that!
