Glittered Wooden Ice Skates

I always feel a little sad after all my Christmas decor is down. I miss the twinkling lights and all of the fun bright colors. So, I want the transition after the holidays not to be so gloomy. I’ve created a beautiful display of snowflakes and ice skates in my home to still keep the winter theme throughout January. I’ve incorporated silver, aqua and winter white into my January.

I’ve been looking for some real ice skates throughout the summer at garage sales and couldn’t ever find any. (but I’m not willing to give up yet) So I searched out a cute pattern of Ice skates and found this pattern that I was able to use.

I used pine for these skates and cut them on the scroll saw. Since I wanted the skates to stand up on their own I made sure the wood was thick enough to stand on its own. I then painted the skates white and while the paint was still wet I glittered the skates with white glitter. You can always Mod Podge over the top of the glitter and continue to apply glitter to get it to stick without losing glitter off of your craft.

Once dry I embellished the top of the skates using miscellaneous items I found in my craft supplies. I wanted to incorporate the blues / aqua colors I’ve been using for January.
I think they turned out darling! and my big snowflakes look cute next to them on my sofa table.
