Green glitter Lathing Stick Leprechaun Hat
St. Patrick’s day is right around the corner! I usually don’t do more that wear green on St. Patrick’s day and maybe put up a few decorations. This year Avry and I have had a crafting bug, we had so many ideas and some good time to craft and make things happen. I saw some 2″ by 4″ wood Leprechaun hats and thought it would be fun to create a larger version with my own spin on it. I had leftover lathing sticks from our XOXO Valentine’s décor. To make this Green glitter Lathing Stick Leprechaun Hat you will need: lathing sticks, wood glue, green paint, green glitter, ribbon, and embellishment’s.
First I created a Leprechaun Hat template out of scrap paper. Then I laid out 13 lathing sticks, I placed the Leprechaun hat template on the lathing sticks and traced the patter onto the wood. I wrote numbers on each stick to keep them in order after I cut them.
I used a jig saw to cut each lathing stick
After I cut the sticks I put them back in order to reveal my Leprechaun hat. I also cut 2 other lathing sticks to use as bracing on the back of my Green glitter Lathing Stick Leprechaun Hat
I covered the bracing sticks in wood glue and pressed them on the back of the Leprechaun hat and allowed them to dry.
Next I dry painted the hat a lime green color.
After the paint was dry I went around the edge of the hat with Mod podge and then sprinkled glitter over top of the Mod podge. The Leprechaun hat is out lined in glitter.
I used a fun black and gold patterned ribbon that I wrapped and glued above the brim of the hat. Last I added a glittered Shamrock and an old black and gold earring to the center as an embellishment.

That is just so cute! I don’t really decorate for St. Patrick’s Day, but this looks like a really fun project!

I think it is great how you and your daughter teamed up to make a St. Patrick Day craft. I normally only wear green. Thinking this craft would be something fun to make.

I normally just wear green on St, Patrick’s Day and sometimes I forget to do that. This leprechaun hat is adorable and it’s the cutest St. Patrick’s Day decor I’ve seen. I’d definitely make this one.
