Get ready to start your engines because it is race day at my house! Any time there is an event we have good food with friends over. I decided to plan a small get together with a few friends to watch the big race. I knew it wasn’t going to be a huge over the top party, but I still wanted to add a few details to make it special. I headed to my local Wal-Mart to pick up food and a few party supplies.
While at Wal-Mart I passed by the pharmacy area which reminded me to pick up some Advil Film-Coated pain relievers. After I get the party set up and I’m ready to relax and have fun with my guests I usually start to feel a headache or a backache come on. I noticed that this Advil Film-Coated pain reliever is formulated with a unique Advil Ion Core Technology and an ultra thin shell to absorb quickly – in fact nothing is proven to work faster* *.
Once back home from the store I started getting ready for the party by making some party favor bags. I purchased some caramel coated popcorn and peanut mix, scooped 2 cups of the popcorn mix into cellophane bags and tied the bags with white and orange ribbon. I used my personal cutting machine to cut some race cars out of black cardstock, punched a hole in the back of the car and tied them to the bags.
I knew a few kids would be coming to the party so I wanted to have an activity to help keep them busy. I put together a finish line flag kit which you can download here Finish line flag kit toppers. I cut card stock 6″ by 12″ in a pennant shape and also cut race cars and trophies out of black card stock using my personal cutting machine. If you don’t have a cutting machine you could also use stickers or print free images to decorate your flags with. I placed the pennant, some of the cutouts and a wooden skewer in a cellophane bag. I stapled my make your own finish line flag kit topper to the cellophane bag. I put these kits on a table with some glitter glue and crayons. The kids can decorate to their own imagination.
After I had the favor bags and kid activities taken care of finished I began to set up the food table for my party. I wanted to go with the checkered flag theme but didn’t have a tablecloth or any accent pieces in a checkered pattern. I ended up using a black tablecloth that I already had and some 12″ by 12″ white cardstock to create the checked pattern for my food table. It was really simple and came together in a few minutes. I used masking tape to tape each white card stock square to the tablecloth in a checkered pattern.
I also draped a white and orange plastic tablecloth behind my food table and then added a few black streamers. I decided to make some pennant banners to hang with my back drop. I used my personal cutting machine to cut the pennants and letters. You could easily use stickers and hand cut the pennants.
I like to use help from the store when planning my menu because it cuts out a lot of time cooking and cleaning up. I chose to purchase cookies, chips, ranch dip and fruit for my food table. I also made my 5 ingredient sweet n sour crock pot meatballs, these are simple to put together and have little clean up. You can find the recipe for these tasty meatballs below.
- •3 14oz bags of frozen meatballs
- •4 C. Brown sugar
- •2T. Prepared mustard
- •1¼ C. Vinegar
- •2½ C. Ketchup
- Place frozen meatballs in crockpot. Dump remaining ingredients over top of meatballs. Cook on high 4-6 hours low 6-8 hours. Serve as appetizer or over rice as main dish.
I like to set out smaller amounts of food and then refill as needed. I find this easier to keep foods fresh and at a desired temperature. As I filled the food plates I found the bottle of Advil Film-Coated pain relievers in my grocery bag. I decided to keep it out and ready to go. I know as soon as I feel a headache or body ache coming on I can have relief in just minutes because of the Advil Film-Coated pain relievers.
