How to make a felt leaf garland
A few weekends ago I had a girls weekend with all my high school girlfriends. We love to shop when we get together so of course I had to take them to my favorite store while they were here!! So off to Hobby Lobby we went. While at Hobby lobby my ever so crafty friend Katie suggested we make some fall leaf garlands out of felt.
So in the wee hours of the night while talking, eating, giggling, talking and of course eating mor junk food we came up with these fun garlands! We picked out two pieces of felt in each fall color that we wanted them in.
Katie made it look super simple and of course her leaves were perfect. It took me a minute but I realized I don’t work well when distracted. I kept folding my felt the wrong way, didn’t cut the leaves evenly or all the way so they would remain attached.. But in the end it turned out super cute!
So first I picked out one of each fall color in felt that I wanted they were .25 cents a sheet at hobby lobby. Then picked out a pumpkin colored embroidery thread to weave into the felt leaves. Once the supplies are all gathered take each piece of felt and fold it into thirds (the long way) this is where I kept goofing up. This way you are cutting three leaves at once rather than one. Just cut it into a leaf shape! I decided you could trace leaves on the felt with markers but free handing it goes a lot faster.. Don’t count on your leaves turning out perfect though if you free hand it. Once your leaves are all cut use a large sewing needle along with your embroidering floss and weave it up and down through each leaf. Alternating the colors of leaves as you go!
Super easy and such a fast craft!
Just a little touch of color!!
