Licorice Pudding Pops

Licorice pudding pops

Summer is here and with that comes hot temperatures and bored kids.  I know pudding pops aren’t a new thing , we thought we would give ours a yummy twist by adding chopped up licorice bits to them.  At first I was a little nervous at how they would turn out, I wondered if the licorice when frozen would be to hard.  To my surprise it was just as soft and delicious as when we opened the package.  My kids really enjoyed helping me make these,  the hardest part for them was how long it took them to freeze.  So, don’t be scared get your kids involved!  They are really simple and only take a few ingredients.   We tried 3 different flavors of pudding with the strawberry licorice they were vanilla, lemon, chocolate and they were all equally delicious! In fact, so delicious that I was only able to save one pudding pop for a picture!

Gather your ingredients, you will need: Milk, small box instant pudding, licorice.  If you already have reusable popsicle containers you are set, I didn’t have any.  I used the 2 ounce cups and some wooden craft sticks.

Licorice Pudding Pops

Place 4 licorice pieces in a blender or food processor and pulse until the licorice is chopped into small bits.  Pour your licorice bits into a bowl and rinse out your blender.  I just went a head and made the pudding in my blender,  I figured it would save time and less clean up.  Place milk and pudding mix into your blender, I followed the directions for amounts of milk that were on the pudding package.  Set up cups on a baking pan  and sprinkle a few teaspoons of licorice bits into each cup, next pour pudding ¾ of the way to the top of the cup.  Sprinkle more licorice bits on top of pudding,  place craft sticks in the center of each cup.  The pudding had set up at this point and the sticks held themselves in place really well.  Place pan in freezer let freeze for 3 - 4 hours or until frozen.
