“Life is Good” Hanging Bike sign

life is good board

For the last few years I have placed a bird cage sign out in my front yard on my hanging sign post.  When I pulled out my bird cage sign this year, I knew I was ready to change it up.  The bird cage sign just seemed a little dated.  I had already added a few bike elements to my porch and home décor for the month of August so, I decided to keep with the theme of bikes.  I found a few ideas where a bike replaced the 2 “o’s” in the word good.  I decided to create my own version of this sign.  The back of my 4th of July sign was blank, instead of cutting new wood and creating more crafts to store I used the back side of my 4th of July sign to create my new August sign.  First I painted the wood white, while the wood was drying I measured the size and created a template using my personal cutting machine.  I cut the bike design out of teal vinyl and then cut the rest of the wording and designs in black vinyl.

After my board was dry, I laid out my design and arranged it how I want it to appear on my board.  I used transfer tape to place and adhere each piece of vinyl on to my board.  After I had placed all of the vinyl on my board I used Mod Podge and painted a layer over my board.  Last I used some scrap burlap and fabric pieces I had to create a bunting.  I cut 4 banner shapes out of different color and patterned fabrics.  Then I cut 4 pieces of burlap the same butting shape but an inch larger.  I layered the fabric on top of the burlap and then Mod podged the burlap and fabric together.  Last I arrange the banner pieces on the bottom of my wood board under the vinyl wording and design.  I glued the banner pieces into place using hot glue and then glued a strip of jute over the pieces.
