Light up Anchor
I made this giant light up anchor back in February when I was decorating for a women’s conference. The same conference I made the keep calm anchor boards for. I cut an anchor template out of paper using my personal cutting machine then I traced the anchor design onto some plywood. Then using a jigsaw my husband cut out the anchor. Next, I measured the spacing for my lights then drilled out holes for the lights to fit in. I gave the anchor a good sanding to make sure all edges were smooth.
I added a little of my magic glaze mix to the base of the board. Then painted the anchor white. After the paint was dry I gave it another quick sand to give it a weathered look. I placed white Christmas lights in all the holes through the backside, then taped and stapled the lighting to hold it in place. Next I purchased some ping pong balls from the dollar store which I used to cover up the Christmas lights. I punched a hole into each one of the balls using a sharp pair of scissors, then notched out a small circle. I hot glued the balls with the cut out over top of the lights that poke through the anchor. This was my cheap solution to re create those fancy marquee lights.
I thought this light up anchor fit perfectly with my porch beach décor theme. I hung it up and added it to my summer porch decor. This only took a few hours and cost me $5 to make. I have seen how pricey they are in the store so it was a fun alternative to those expensive décor store prices!

I live off Cape Cod, so pretty much EVERYONE has nautical decor in their homes. This would fit in perfectly around here 🙂
