Maintaining outdoor living space + Giveaway

Maintaining outdoor living space + giveaway

Mr. Clean, Bounty, the Home Depot and Craft Yourself are teaming up to offer some great tips and products to help get ready for summer entertaining. Whether you’re planning a backyard barbeque or just freshening up your patio or deck, The Home Depot has the products you’ll need to help you get the most out of your outdoor living space this summer.

According to a recent Procter & Gamble (P&G) survey, only 25 percent of consumers clean their grills and only 20 percent of consumers clean their outdoor furniture. Yet keeping them cleaned can help them last longer. So, here are a few tips for getting your outdoor area ready for entertaining:

· Maintain Your Outdoor Furniture – Keep it looking good all summer, By doing this wipe down any metal or plastic chairs and tables. Discard any cracked or damaged chairs. If you have an umbrella don’t be afraid to wash it by using a hose and a bucket of soap. Wipe down glass often to prevent any hard water and dirt build up.

· Inspect your Deck – Give it good once over – check for loose nails, bricks, cracked concrete or repairs that need to be done. If needed apply a new coat of stain or sealer. Wash it down of any debris or dirt.

· Remove the Clutter – Clean up, power wash, remove unnecessary items/debris. Find a storage place for any yard equipment such as rakes, shovels, hand tools, hoses, buckets or childrens outdoor toys. Clean up any dead branches, leaves or flowers remaining from the previous season. Keeping clutter free from your yard gives your home better curb appeal

· Accessorize – Add in the little touches (i.e., plants, outdoor lighting, lanterns, centerpiece) I have found that yard stakes and landscape lighting have added some fun touches to my yard, I have also added outdoor pillows to my swing and lawn chairs for some pops of color. Pots with colorful flowers can add some beauty to your deck.

· Clean your Grill – Give your grill a clean start this season. Don’t be afraid to give your grill a good scrub down. Mr Clean outdoor cleaner keeps my grill looking clean all season long. Remove and metal grill racks and clean them in soap and water. Remove burners and vaccuum under them to remove any burned build up. Most grills also have a tray to catch the grease make sure you clean this several times through out the summer to ensure you do not get any grill fires.

· Yard Maintenance – Check all sprinkler heads to make sure none are clogged or not working, water frequently to keep your lawn looking green, Pull any weeds that are taking over your flower beds. Set your lawn mower to a higher length for cutting as it will help to maintain moisture in the grass. Use mulch in areas that are difficult to pull weeds.

· Exterior doors / windows – I used Mr Clean erasers to remove all scuff marks from my exterior doors going out onto my patio. My doors look brand new and scuff mark free! Use window cleaner and Bounty paper towels to wipe glass down on all your exterior windows.
