Old Fashioned car Decor Board

Old Fashioned Car Décor Board

I love the movie A Christmas story, it is one of our family traditions to watch this show every year. Usually when you talk about this movie, the leg lamp always comes to mind first. For this project. I was inspired by the old fashioned car, and the family going to hunt for their Christmas tree. First I found a scrap board at my house. I did a crackle paint technique on the board. To do the crackle technique: Paint you board a darker base color first, something that will show through your 2nd color. I choose a dark brown for my base color. Let your base coat dry, next apply a layer of glue; I used tacky glue for this one, I have also used Elmers glue ect.. they all work fine. The thicker your glue is the larger the crackle pattern will be. I do some spots thick and some thin, to give the board more texture. Do not let the glue dry! Right after you paint your glue layer, start painted your 2nd coat of paint over top of the glue. You will see the crackle pattern as the glue and paint layer start to dry. I found a free image of an old fashioned car online, and cut it in black vinyl on my silhouette machine. I also cut a tree in green vinyl. I layered the car and then the tree on top. I glued some bakers twine in a zig zag pattern and tied a bow, to give the effect that it is tied on top of the car.
