Polka Dot Mini Pumpkins make over DIY

mini-pumpkins

During one of our many garage sale adventures we found these Mini Pumpkins. They were painted but pretty basic and just a little out dated.  We were able to purchase all of the pumpkins that they had for only $1.00.

These Mini Pumpkins were going to come home with us to get a little face lift!  First off I sanded a few of them down to a rustic and faded orange. I made sure to get rid of the dark orange lines on the pumkins.  Once they were sanded I then added glittered polka dots to the existing orange paint.  The easiest way to glitter them is by putting dots of mod podge and then sprinkling glitter over the top. If you don’t want your glitter to flake off just add more modpodge onto the top. Let it dry then repeat the step of adding modpodge until you have no more glitter falling off.

I also painted some of the other Mini Pumpkins a solid white and black paint then added various colored glitter polka dots to those pumpkins.

If you don’t have Mini Pumpkins that you randomly found at a garage sale like we did then you can always create your own template or use this fun little template.  It is pretty easy to trace the pumpkins on to pine wood to cut out on a scroll saw or use a jig saw. This was a quick project and it was fun to see the pumpkins get a little bling.

Honestly the pictures do not do these Mini pumpkins any justice! They turned out so cute. You can embellish them with ribbon or jewels. The glitter adds a lot of bling so we didn’t think they needed any more embellishing. These can be used for both Halloween and Thanksgiving! Enjoy!
