Pottery Barn inspired Console Table

Console / Sofa Table

I did it again! I went and used another great project by Shanty 2 Chic’ as long as I have a plan for hubby to go off of he will build it for me.

Especially if it is rough wood and not to hard of instructions. This project took a little time not because it was difficult but because of our crazy busy lives! I followed Shanty 2 Chic’s instructions for the most part. To save on costs we didn’t add the wheels on the bottom nor did I put baskets in the bottom. Although I do love the look of the baskets – I may add them later but for now I am happy. We also changed a few of the dimensions. Since we didn’t use the wheels our legs were a bit longer therefore making the shelf in between the floor and the top of the console table a bit bigger.

I used the Vaseline technique she demonstrated and LOVED the outcome. Since this was my first project using Vaseline I realized the more you put on the bigger the chipped look which I love! When staining the edges I would have definitely gone wider on my stain just because in a few small spots I found the Vaseline went onto the natural wood and the paint came off in those areas. but I touched it up with stain after the fact and it was only maybe the size of a pea! I also used real stain instead of the spray stain like she did. Only because I already had some in my cupboard and I didn’t want to have to foot the expense on the spray kind. I also had left over paint from another project so that too saved on cost. When sanding the edges use a really fine grit and it doesn’t take much! P.S. the paint will gum up a little on the sand paper.

Now I want to make a new console table for my front entry (different table) but same paint technique. It was a lot of fun!
Thanks Shanty 2 Chic for your awesome plans!
