Quick and easy lamp shade re do

This must be the year that I have decided all my decor is out of style.  Either that or the fact that I have a new house and I want all new things for it.  I can’t believe we have been in our home a year already! Time flies.   So I went through a phase where EVERYTHING in my home was tan and red.. I am sooo over those colors.  Buh bye red hello yellows, greens, turquoise anything but RED..

I have had these lamps for over 6 years and although they were cute I was ready for a change.  I decided to re do my entire bedroom and picked the colors of green, cream and chocolate brown.

Here is my before lamps..

And drum roll… My after redo lamps

Each lampshade is different but most of the time the fabric on a lampshade is just glued onto a base.  I took the old lampshade and tore off the red fabric I then cut out the color of fabric that I wanted to use in the width of the lamp shade plus an extra 1/2 inch on each end to tuck around the edges.   Once cut I just used Elmer’s spray adhesive glue (which is really really sticky so if you get it on your fingers it is a pain to use) I glued the fabric onto the shade in sections.  I rolled the lampshade in between my knees as I rolled the shade and glued the fabric into place.  Once glued on I just tucked the excess around the edges and glued.  Next I used hot glue to attach my rosettes and ribbon.  Rosettes are really easy to make and fun if you have a lot of old scrap material.. I can’t wait to show you the rest of my room!
