Quick Crafty Birthday Gift Idea

When I give gifts, I usually try to personalize the gift in some way. I love to give homemade items or share treats or products I love. This little gift basket is a sampling of all those things! I love chocolate, baking and crafting! That became the theme of this gift. I started out by making an apron out of reusable shopping bags!!! I used the nicer sturdier ones you can find at Home Goods/ TJ Maxx. Then I used this great step by step tutorial found here. I have made several of these aprons over the past few years. They are a quick 15-20 minute project, they require basic sewing skills (just a few straight stiches). There are so many ways you can dress them up. I kept this one pretty simple, because I loved the pattern and didn’t want to cover it up with pockets. These fun little aprons, could make great mothers day gifts also.

Because I was making this a birthday basket. You need to have some kind of cake right?? It is for a birthday! I found this Microwave brownie lave cake recipe years ago and it is one of my favorite!!! I know your drooling already. Plus you know how I love things that are quick and easy! this is the quickest easiest treat! WARNING you may become an addict! I knew this friend would appreciate this chocolaty goodness for their birthday treat. I included the brownie mix, a bag of Dove chocolate, a cute printable of the recipe, and a new spatula. Hence the Have a “flippin” awesome Birthday tag. Because, I want all of you to try this amazing lava cake or give it as a gift. I have included both of these fun printable’s. Simply click on the image, copy and paste it into word. Adjust the printables to the size of your liking and print!

last of all you will need something to hold all of this fun chocolaty baking goodness! If you have followed the blog. Last year Avry and I decorated for a wedding. We made about 20 of these cans for the wedding. I grabbed one of these little babies to hold all of the birthday goods. If you want to make your own. They are a #10 size can (usually bulk food storage or coffee come in this size). We cut burlap to size and hot glued it around the cans. We cut a large lace ribbon and wrapped and glue it around the center. Then we made the fabric rosettes and glued them onto the front of the can. You can check them out on our $100 wedding post .
