Refinishing a desk and decorating a bedroom.

About a year ago right as we were getting ready to pack up and move out of our Hammon Lane house our Neighbor Mike asked us if we wanted Joey’s old desk for one of our girls bedrooms. So I took it with the anticipation of refinishing it. My sister Jeralee has done some refinishing of furniture and so I figured it couldn’t be that difficult. Well we sold our house and started building our new one so instead of working on a desk it went into storage. We moved into our new house 5 months ago and I finally had motivation to start on the desk project.
Here are some before pictures.

She needs a little TLC.

I had sanded it down and sprayed one coat of paint onto it when it was time to go have surgery on my jaw. That held me up for oh about 2 weeks. If any of you know my husband you know that a desk sitting out in his garage UNFINISHED would about send him over the edge. After two weeks of it sitting out there Justin took it upon himself to finish it. (oops) but I am grateful I have a husband who is such a go getter! THANKS BABE!!
I picked up these cute little knobs from Hobby lobby when they were 50% off! My brother had two chairs he was getting rid of that were painted a dark forest green so I took them both and sanded down one of them and repainted it to match her desk. I would still like to put a fabric cover over the seat but I just haven’t found the perfect fabric for it. Here are the finished pictures!

Here is part of Savanna’s room.

I have also been working on another craft project for Savanna’s room, my mother gave me an old plate holder she was getting rid of so I took some wood blocks and cut them out to about a 5×7 size and found some cute scrapbook paper to modpodge over the top of each block. It was a simple project but added some character to her room.

Another shot

Just a little more crafting 🙂 this one turned out cute I think!

Last but not least I made identical plaques for each of my girl’s bedroom doors although each girl has their name on the front and the colors are painted the same as what their bedroom is painted.
