Rise & Shine Spring Décor Board

Rise & Shine Spring Décor Board

Years ago I was at a little shop and saw a darling sign. For some reason it has stuck with me. I remembered the little saying it had. After I made the Wicked Chicken sign, I knew this saying would compliment it. From my memory this sign was similar in color to the wicked chicken sign. A deep barn red and very rustic. I could see it in a shabby country kitchen style of décor. Since I have nothing like that in my home and I have been wanting bright spring colors. This little memory of mine is going to get re-vamped in a fun spring way. I am planning on leaving both of these signs up most of the month of April. I already talked myself into it. They are not Easter signs they are SPRING signs! Because spring is when all the animals and cute baby chicks are out. So, therefore these are spring décor right? Feel free to whip some of your own up and leave them up the whole month!

I started off by picking out one of my hardwood flooring scrap boards.   I painted the board white first.  While it was drying.  I cut a template on my silhouette machine out of contact paper.  After the board was dry.  I applied the contact paper just like you would apply vinyl on a craft.   I mixed up this really fun orange tangerine color.   I painted the orange color right over the contact paper, you can see that in the top right square of pictures.  I let the board completely dry.  Then I removed the contact paper, revealing my wording and rooster in white!  I gave the board a quick sand to rough it up a little.  I love that I have a matching fun pair of new spring signs!
