Round Monogrammed Wood Sign

After I took down my Easter décor I was having a hard time putting up last years spring décor. I wanted something new and some sort of a statement piece for my front door.  Hubby and I were out and about one day in our golf cart and we happened to pass a house that had something on their front door that peaked my interest. I took a picture of it then kept the general idea in the back of my mind.

Fast forward 2 weeks later (this past weekend) Hubby and I ran to Home Depot to get some wood for a shelf in my closet and other miscellaneous items but kept striking out on what we were looking for. While walking down an isle I saw these amazing large round 24″ wood circles and to top it off they were on clearance for only $6.00!! I had to buy them! They were pre-cut, pre-sanded and ready to go!

Circle Marquee Painting

This project went REALLY fast! Krystal had a 1 gallon darling light teal paint that she had gotten at a garage sale for a couple dollars that we cracked open and painted the circles with.

She then did her wonders and cut us out some black vinyl to put around the edges and we had fun picking out what fonts we wanted to use for our monogram letters.

Circle Marquee applying vinyl

One tip that we would love to share with our readers is that if you are applying vinyl to wood and your project is going to be used outside do a thin layer over the vinyl to seal the vinyl from peeling up. Over time your Vinyl will peel up from exposure to sun, wind, rain etc. If you seal it down to the wood using mod podge you won’t have this problem. 🙂

Circle Marquee finished

My husband inserted two screws into the back approx. 8″ apart then strung a wire in between them to be able to hang this. I had him put the screws closer together so the wire could be tight. This helps so when the wind kicks up it won’t bang as bad against your front door.  I also glued some felt onto a few places on the back so if it did bang against my front door it wouldn’t cause any damage and would be less noisy.
