Rustic Bead board Christmas tree Plaques

There I was surfing along the internet when I came across these darling simple farmhouse Christmas signs at Craftaholics Anonymous.  The moment I saw this project I knew I wanted to make them for Christmas gifts.  I looked at the blog post and found that she had purchased all of the items at a local craft store and just simply glued them together.  Which is easy and wonderful but, I knew I wanted to make several and that it probably wouldn’t be in my budget.  I began thinking about wood scraps and items I already had on hand, items I knew I could substitute for the craft supplies that Craftaholics Anonymous used.  Here is my copycat DIY to make your own Simple farmhouse sign, with items you may already have on hand.

Supply List:

Redwood fencing (or other thin leftover wood)

Bead board scraps

Old faux pine trim

Assorted ribbon

Tools needed:

Jig saw

Table saw

Sander

Hot glue gun and glue

First you will create a pattern for a simple triangle shape Christmas tree measuring 11″ tall  by 5 1/2″ wide at the base of the tree.  Trace the pattern onto your Redwood fencing or scrap wood pieces and then cut out the Christmas trees using a jig saw and then sand the edges of the trees.

Next you will cut your bead board at 13 1/2″ by 7 1/2″ using a table saw.  If the bead board is already primed white you can use it as is or paint to desired color.  I chose to stick with white. After you cut and paint your boards you can sand the edges to give it a distressed look.

Glue each Redwood Christmas tree to a piece of bead board using your hot glue.

Form pieces of pine trim into miniature wreaths and glue them to the top center of your redwood Christmas trees.  Last tie bows out of assorted ribbon and glue to the center of each miniature pine wreath.
