See through heart Valentine bags and free printable
See through heart Valentine bags & Free Printable
I saw similar Valentine bags on Twinkle and Twine and she has a really great tutorial, if you are seamstress. That I am not! I am basically a craft sewer. I like quick sewing projects that don’t have a lot of steps and are on a beginner to intermediate level. I did love the concept of the see through heart though. So, I basically simplified the project to make it more basic for us amateur’s. In her tutorial she lined the bag and made a draw string on the top but I decided that I was not going to put that much effort into these bags. I plan on making a half dozen or so and giving them as gifts. If you can sew around a heart and sew 3 semi-straight lines, then you can do this project! I used scraps of left over burlap and pink fabric that I already had in my crafter stash. These bags measure about 3″ wide by 6″ tall. I cut 2 fabric rectangles for each bag then on my silhouette machine I cut out a heart shape and pinned it fairly close to the bottom of where the bag would be. I pinned a square piece of clear plastic vinyl on the back of the fabric. Next I stitched around my heart template a few times with my sewing machine then pinned my 2 rectangles of fabric, right sides together and sewed side, bottom, and side. I turned it inside out. Then I cut out the fabric that was the inside of the heart, to reveal the clear plastic. At this point you are done with your cute see through Valentine bag. I filled these bags with Hersery Kisses and Rolo’s then I used a piece of ribbon (or you could use tulle) to tie the top of the bag closed. I love to give out gifts and treats for all the holidays. Candy can get expensive when you are filling up multiple treat bags so what I do to save money on candy for gifts is after each holiday I purchase my candy at 50-90 percent off. If you look at the expiration dates, most bagged candy it doesn’t expire for the next year or longer! I stash away the bagged candy in the freezer or my cold storage area under my porch. I pull out coordinating candy bags for the next holiday. Here you see I am using Christmas Rolo’s and Kisses. I purchased these bags for $1.15 each after the holiday. I separate the red, silver, gold and green wrapped candy. The red and silver will go in my valentine bags and gold and green will be placed in a Ziploc to use for St. Patrick’s treats! After I filled my bags with candy. I created this free printable forget love tags , that I tied onto the bags. I love this saying for Valentines day!

Even your simple craft is a bit beyond my skills! However, I do have a printer and can make my own tags – I’ll just attach them to purchased cello bags.

These are so cute! I love how you can make them extra special instead of just using baggies.
