If you’re new to the world of craft, getting started can be a little daunting. Where do you start?
What do you need? How much will it cost? These are questions every beginner asks, but luckily, crafting is a lot simpler than you think.
To encourage you to give crafting a go, Sykes Cottages have created a series of simple craft tutorials that are easy to follow and require few specialist tools and materials. The guide features six fun tutorials, with creative crafts ranging from a penguin finger puppet to a crochet tablet cover, all of which are simple and inexpensive to make.
With Valentine’s and Mother’s Day on the horizon, there’s never been a better time to dig out needle, thread, scissors and glue and get creative with this year’s presents. A DIY gift is so much more personal than something shop bought, and your loved one will appreciate the effort you’ve put into crafting a special gift just for them.
Sykes’ simple craft guide features a handful of designs that would make the perfect gift for that certain someone. From homemade scented candles to wirework earrings, you can make a thoughtful and affordable gift with just a few items. Each of the craft tutorials in the guide was contributed by a craft blogger, and were designed to beboth simple and inexpensive to make, encouraging those who have never tried craft to get creative and have a go. My kids would totally love if I made those. But the way I handle needles, I’d probably sew the puppets to my own fingers. lol

Eek! Those are too cute! I get into waves of craftiness and I’m super excited to get back into things. Although I don’t sew or anything fancy, I definitely think I could handle these.

Great tutorials! Love that little penguin finger puppet. The upcycled phone cosy sounds neat, too.

Oh that DOES make things easier. I admit I have HUNDREDS of dollars worth of craft stuff – I do not know how to spend less than $100 in Hobby Lobby – but I feel very overwhelmed when I try to do a craft because I do not know where to begin. Midge collects penguins – I think thats a great place for us to start.

I love to do things like this. I love how they describe each step which really helps out. Sometimes the instructions can be so vague!! Thanks for sharing.
