St. Patrick’s Pillow Boxes
Being a crafter I am always looking for opportunities to craft and it doesn’t matter if it’s a big or small item. I also loving sharing the crafts I make with others. Although I don’t always have the time or resources to make big item’s to give away I enjoy making small inexpensive paper crafts for gifts. Seeing how St. Patrick’s day isn’t a large holiday I decided to make a few small pillow boxes to give as a fun little gift. I have a die cut that I can use with my Cuttle Bug to cut these pillow boxes. But, these can be made a variety of different ways. If you have a personal cutting machine you can download cut files or you can save toilet paper rolls and fold them in half and tuck the edges in. You can also cut a square of paper any size you want your box to be. Then glue or tape 2 of the sides together then fold the ends inside in a half circle. I love these cute pillow boxes because they are simple and easy to create.
For the St. Patrick’s pillow boxes I made 2 different styles. The first one is made with vellum because I liked the idea of it being slightly see through. I filled them with green M&M’s. For the tag I used the Stampin’ Up scalloped round punch for the base and a 1 1/2″ regular round punch for the cream colored circle. I cut the black pot using the paper doll dress up cartridge on my Cricut machine (Yes, I have both machine’s although I find myself using the Silhouette more). After I cut out the black pot’s I added some tacky glue on the top and sprinkled gold glitter. I then glued the 3 layers together to form the pot of gold tag. I used green gold and black ribbon to tie the tags on to my pillow boxes.
For the 2nd pillow box I used some rainbow stripe patterned paper that fit the holiday theme. Then in a word document I typed the Leprechaun droppings saying in 2 different fonts and printed them off. I used a green ink pad to ink around the edges of the tags. I then created the leprechaun from some Stampin’ Up punches that I own. Here is a great guide to make your own. You will notice my leprechaun is slightly different. I used black brads for my eyes and a different flower punch to create the mustache, I also made my hat a little different. The instructions are great for the basic leprechaun but you can adjust him to your liking.
