Summertime Grow flower sign using dishes
One of my favorite ways to decorate and present my home is by adding fun signs to my porch and patio. With summer gardening upon us, I found this idea for a Summertime grow dish board. I love the combination of the plate flower used as the letter “o” in the word grow. Over at Wendy’s make n take you can pay for a kit or class to make this sign. I love the idea but the size of sign she was offering is rather large. I decided to create my own and make a smaller version.
To create your own Summer Time grow dish board you will need:
2 wood slats cut at 11 inches
2 Lathing strips cut at 22 inches
2 lathing strips cut at 11 inches
1 small salad plate
1 tin or glass candy dish
1 knob
Pre-cut wood letters G, R, and W
You choice of 2 paint colors
Wood glue (I used Gorilla wood glue)
Liquid nail glue
E6000 glue
First cut your wood slats and lathing strips to sizes listed above.
Glue your wood slats together and let dry.
Paint your wooden slats color of your choice and Let the paint completely dry.
While the frame is drying, paint the pre-cut wood letters to the color of your choice. I chose to paint mine a turquoise blue. Most of all, you’ll want to let the wooden letters completely dry.
Glue plate, candy dish, and knob together using E600 or liquid nail to create your plate flower.
After the paint is dry attach lathing strips around the wooden slats using liquid nail to create a frame. Glue plate flower and wood letters on to your board your liquid nail. In conclusion let the sign completely dry and cure for 24 to 48 hours before standing up right.
I keep thinking of different ways and places I can display this fun summer time grow plate flower board. How fun would it be next to potted flowers, or attached to a fence or garden bench. Furthermore there are so many variations with colors and different dishes to make your grow sign unique.
