Suntanned toes board
Have you ever looked at a project on pinterest and coveted the item? Last year I saw this darling Suntanned toes board at the addicted 2 diy blog. I was so in love with it, she had and amazing tutorial to recreate this darling summer craft. I quickly pinned it and marked it on my craft to do project list. The only problem was somehow my summer slipped away and very few crafts happened! Every time I would scroll through my craft projects page on pinterest, this fun little project pops up and I am again reminded of what a darling idea it is. I saw it in my pinterest feed again last week and thought that is it!!! I went and dug through my scrap pile of wood and was lucky enough to find the right width of wood, I pulled out the chop saw and chopped the board down to the right size. Now you really know how much I really wanted to make this because, I usually wait for my husband to get home and he cuts 90 percent of all of my projects! after I had the wood cut (and one for Avry too!!) I realized the instructions said to stain the wood and let it dry and cure overnight, who has time for that? Not me I was on a mission to get it done now!!! I mixed up a batch of my own wood stain/glaze that dries really quick, you can read more about that in this post. I glazed both the boards with my own stain and in 100 degree weather they dry even faster. I then followed her directions to trace and paint on the base of the flip flops. I only drilled a small hole half way through my board and hot glued my rope straps in place. For the Suntanned toes wording, I simply cut out yellow vinyl on my personal cutting machine and placed it on my board. My suntanned toes board looks almost identical to hers and I really love how it turned out. I just simplified the process to make it fit with the time and items I had available to me.
