Repurposing an old door for the front porch
I obtained this old door through a friend’s friend. Ha-ha! That probably sounds a little confusing but somehow it ended up at my house and I thought to myself “This has potential”. Although, I didn’t know what I would end up doing with it once I got it all done I knew it would still be darling! First, I wiped and sanded the entire door down then wiped it again. Then I puttied the holes, dings and dents and let dry overnight. I then sanded the putty spots and smoothed them out. I next, taped off the center of the door and painted it gray. No, I did not put…

Upcycling an old hutch / curio cabinet
Every year for Christmas my family rotates names and this year I am lucky enough to have my sister and her family. My sister moved into a new home and struggles with decorating it. So, for me it is easy to have a million ideas as to what I could give her. While visiting her home recently she complained of some television wires hanging out of her wall. Making a promise to her that I would help her figure out how to cover the wires. I stumbled across this Curio cabinet on our local classifieds for $65.00 and decided to Upcycle it for my sister. These are the photos that…

DIY Rustic Re-purposed Wood Shutter With Hooks
I have had this old Wood Shutter sitting in my garage for several years. I purchased several shutters at a garage sale for $2.00 and then found more! Who could forget the Thanksgiving Shutter ?? As you can see I have used Shutters for each holiday but I had one full length one left so I wanted to create something for my sister. This originally was meant to be for her back hall to…

Flash forward to 2017 / 2018. The Era of Farmhouse everything. When every suburbia mom wants the “Farmhouse” look yet they don’t live in a Farmhouse. I am still trying to understand this. So how does all of this fit in with my Dining Room Table Redo? White on white is not my style – I am a girl that loves me some color and depth. Although I also do realize that…

DIY – Refurbished Vintage metal patio chairs
My parents had this darling vintage patio table with patio chairs. The is a glass table with white iron chairs with yellow vinyl cushions on them. They had purchased this patio set at a yard sale several years ago. After many sunny summers and long hard winters the yellow vinyl finally deteriorated. My dad had put all of the chairs in his truck to take them to the landfill. While looking them over I see that the metal frame on the chairs is in great shape and can easily be painted. Knowing I could figure out something for the seat I asked my dad to bring the chairs to my…

One man’s junk is another mans treasure. It is amazing what paint, spray paint and old frames, fabric, and time…
