Teen Guitar card

I know every time I blog about card making I always say how it brings me back to my roots.  Once again I’m going to say it!  Cards bring me back to my roots!  Card making was where crafting began for me and I often forget how much I love handmade cards.  I am so glad that I am part of a card exchange group that meets every other month.  It gives me the chance to slow down and create some really fun cards.  A few months ago we were focusing on cards for boys and men.  It is so easy to come up with a girly card.  I always struggle when it is centered around boys and men.  This time my approach was to go with a teen related card, my son is 10 and starting with the pre-teen attitude.  I was trying to create a card he would enjoy giving to a friend.

I cut the card base out of  white cardstock I then layered a black and white checkered paper on top of my card base. Once that was on I cut a rectangle red foiled accent piece of paper using my paper cutter and layered that on top of the checkered paper.  The guitar, circles and star I cut using my personal cutting machine.

Once all assembled I used Versa Mark ink which I blotted all over the paper guitars then I sprinkled black heat embossing glitter on the guitar.  I set the glitter using a heat Embossing gun.   I folded my white cardstock card bases and then layered the pieces shown in the pictures above.  I used pop up dots to raise the guitar off the card. I really like how they turned out and hope my son will enjoy giving them.
