“Vintage Count Down Chalkboards”
Vintage Christmas Week “Vintage Count Down Chalkboards” Women’s Shelter project
Back in October, My sister had a lady contact her from our local women’s shelter. She asked if we could make and donate a craft, that could be sold to raise money for the women’s shelter. We accepted the challenge, and then the hunt for the perfect craft began. We found the idea on this Etsy shop. The shelter asked us to donate between 15-20 of our item. We knew that we had to find a way to make them without a lot of cost on our end. My brother installs hardwood floors, we asked him to save any scraps or leftover’s, for this project. First we cut and glued 2 pieces of flooring together. Next we spray painted all of the boards a light cream color. Then they got a quick sand job, to make them look weathered. The first few boards we spray painted the chalkboard on, but it was to much of a hassle and had a lot of over spray. I ended up purchasing some chalkboard vinyl. I cut the chalk board vinyl and the Days until Christmas in regular vinyl, using my silhouette machine. We applied the vinyl on the boards. Last we hot glued some jute rope around the chalkboard. Of course I had to make one for myself!
