Wooden Coffin Decorative Halloween Sign

Are you looking for new ideas and ways to decorate at Halloween time?  Halloween is one of my favorite holiday’s and  I love to go over the top!  Adding new Halloween decorations to my house while looking for new ideas is a fun past time of mine.  In fact deciding to create a coffin out of old wood flooring that I had was easy for me.  I knew that I needed to add something to it because it was very plain looking.  Finding this darling saying from Dexter Kozen made the perfect addition to put on my coffin.

To make a Wooden Coffin Decorative Halloween sign you will need:

2 wood slats cut 3″ by 24″ (you could use wood fence slats)

2 additional wood slats

wood glue

jig saw

chop saw

Sander

white vinyl

personal cutting machine

template

first  create a paper template to trace onto your wood flooring slats or fencing.  My template measures 24″ long by 12″ at its widest point.  Next you will measure and cut 2 of your wood slats 24″ long, using a cop saw. Place the 24″ long slats next to each other along with 2 more wood slats on each side of the 24″ wood slats.  Lay your coffin template over the 4 wood slats and trace the angles over the 2 outer wood slats. Using a jig saw cut the 2 outer wood slats to size and design.

Next you will use gorilla wood glue to glue together the 4 wood slats.  Let the glue completely dry on the Coffin.  You can also nail and add 2 tack strips on the back for extra stability.  Sand all edges of your coffin.  You can paint or decorate your coffin as desired.

I chose to cut this saying a saying from “Dexter Kozen ” using your personal cutting machine type in the saying pick desired fonts and cut onto white vinyl.  Weed out vinyl and apply saying onto the center of your coffin.

I ended up making 8 of these cute coffins to give away as prizes at our annual Halloween party. How will you decorate your coffin?
